|This swim takes place right in downtown Austin, Texas. The course is 1.3 miles in Lady Bird Lake from the Austin Rowing Club at Waller Creek Boathouse to the Festival Beach Boat Ramp. This lake was originally called Towne Lake when it was formed by the damming of the Colorado River, but was changed to honor Lady Bird Johnson. Lady Bird Johnson worked tirelessly to transform Lady Bird Lake (aka Town Lake) into a usable recreation area. The swim will be a water start just off the dock at Austin Rowing Club and finish at the boat ramp at Festival Beach at the end of Nash Hernandez Senior Rd. The event is limited to 400 participants, so don’t wait to register!
PLEASE NOTE: This swim is not for novices. This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.
