||Sharks in the Hudson River? Everyone is aware of those “Wall Street Sharks”! The
Manhattan Sharkfest swim will be 1500 meters (Olympic Mile) across the Hudson River
from Port Imperial/Weehawken, NJ ferry terminal to the 56th Street basin in New York City. Anticipated water temperature should be in the low 70’s with
favorable tidal conditions to allow for a great swim. The swim start will be in the water
at the New York Waterways ferry terminal with self-seeded wave starts based on ability
(fastest to slowest) with 3 minutes between waves. There will be kayaks and support
boats along the course. Post event festivities will take place near the swim
finish area. Prior to the race, the ferry from Manhattan (39th St.) to the swim start will
depart to the start at 7:00 a.m. Return ferries to Weehawken will depart from 39th
Street/Midtown terminal every 20 minutes at 10, 30 and 50 minutes after each hour.
Ferry fee for swimmers is included in your entry fee. The event is limited to 500 participants, so don’t wait too long to register!
PLEASE NOTE: This swim is not for novices. This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.
Online Registration is closed. This event has been postponed.
Race Packets (containing swim cap, timing chip, & t-shirt) are picked up on race day morning. Full details on this pick-up will be included in the ENTRANT NEWSLETTER, which will be e-mailed to all paid participants and posted on this web page approximately two to three weeks prior to the event.
